POSTER COMPETITION TOOLKIT

Tiger Stripes is a Malaysian supernatural-realist coming-of-age chiller from Amanda Nell Eu that puts puberty horror into a new genre. We’re looking for designers to create artwork to capture the spirit of the film. If this is you, read on!

Tiger Stripes has spiky, stand-out, bold performances from a young cast and some terrific set pieces. Submitted as the Malaysian Oscar entry, it was censored in its home country for its unflinching look at female development and self-expression. The film also won the Grand Prize in Cannes Critics’ Week 2023.

"I am really looking forward to the release of Tiger Stripes in the UK and Ireland and hope you will participate in this poster competition. Coming from a graphic design background, I'm always heavily involved with the design process for the poster art of my films. It's a fun addition to the film and when it works it can be super iconic. I love the poster art for Tiger Stripes, but I would love to see your interpretation of what you think the poster could be. The film represents celebrating every part of yourself that you've been told to hide away, to exist as yourself fully and to let your energy run wild and free - take whatever you want from that statement and have fun creating!" - Amanda Nell Eu

When designing the poster, think about the anger, rage and yet joy, fun, excitement of being a young girl in the world.
