Welcome to the Virtual Cinema screening room of MEMORY BOX in partnership with
the Arab British Centre & Safar Film Festival. This is your chance to see the award-winning,
critically-acclaimed, boundary-pushing film from the Lebanese-French artist filmmaker duo
Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige. Virtual Cinema extends the theatrical run of a film
and gives back to cultural organisations by sharing box office returns.

MEMORY BOX ONLINE Q&A

The Arab British Centre and SAFAR Film Festival are delighted to host Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige in an online conversation celebrating the UK release of their new film, Memory Box.

The work of the Lebanese-French filmmaker/artist duo interrogates the creation of images and representation, from the construction of the imaginary to the writing of contemporary history. Their feature films The Lebanese Rocket Society, A Perfect Day and Je Veux Voir (featuring Catherine Deneuve and Rabih Mroué) have been screened and awarded in major international festivals, and their artworks exhibited in prominent museums, biennales and art centres worldwide. In 2017, they were awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize.

Led by SAFAR curator Rabih El-Khoury, this conversation will explore the making of the critically-acclaimed, boundary-pushing new film Memory Box whilst also bringing in the artists’ wider work and vision.
